Boating in the Lakes
There are a huge number of options available depending how adventurous you are. From taking a lake cruise to actively participating in water sport activities such as kayaking to windsurfing and many more. We set out below some options for Lake Windermere but don't forget you can go boating on other Lakes too.

Lake Cruises
To really get to experience Windermere and the other lakes nothing can beat actually getting on the water. On Windermere there are many options available but we suggest looking at Windermere Lake Cruises to plan you itinerary.
Boat Hire
Boats can be hired from Waterhead, Low Wood, Bowness and Fell foot Park, and vary from rowing boats to sailing or self drive motor boats.
Sailing
Follow these links to the following sailing clubs - Royal Windermere Yacht Club, South Windermere Sailing Club and Lake District Boat Club.
Windermere Outdoor Adventure and Watersport Centre offer courses in dinghy sailing, wind surfing etc. Contact details Tel - 015394 47183.

Kayaking

Bring you own boat
Ferry Nab is the main public launch area, which has a public car park, toilet and shower facilities. Don't forget that you'll need a licence to use Windermere and your licence number must be on show on your boat for further information you can contact the Lake warden on Tel - 015394 42753. If your a Guest of the Beech Hill Hotel you are free to moor your boat up on our jettys, just let us know in advance.
