Crummock Water
A quintessential Lake District lake, Alfred Wainwright said of Crummock Water and the hill of Mellbreak which runs the full length of its western side “no pairing of hill and lake in Lakeland have a closer partnership than these”’ Crummock Water also offers great picnic spots along the Squat Beck.

Crummock Water is situated between Loweswater to the North and Buttermere to the South. It is 2.5 miles long and 0.75 miles and a depth of 140 feet at its deepest point.
To the south of Crummock Water you will find the highest waterfall in the Lake District - Scale Force, whose height is generally given at 170 feet. William Wordsworth described Scale Force as "a fine chasm, with a lofty, though but slender, fall of water"
