Christmas Attractions- By the Light of the Fool Moon at Muncaster Castle

If you happen to be staying with us over the festive period, you will be keen to discover some Christmas related activities to get you in the yuletide mood and keep those you are travelling with, entertained along the way.

One great Christmas activity happening in the local area, is a festival called; By the Light of the Fool Moon, taking place at Muncaster Castle in nearby Ravenglass, in Cumbria. Featuring live music and performances, By the Light of the Fool Moon is a thrilling display of entertainment, set in the stunning rooms of Muncaster Castle.

The theme of the collection of performances, centres around the idea that a full moon hasn’t occurred at the castle, for five centuries. As legend goes, the full moon should it happen, would spark a series of curious events. A Professor has arrived at the castle to uncover the dark tale. Join him in his quest to discover Muncaster’s deepest secrets.

By the Light of the Fool Moon is directed by Tom Spencer, leader the of multi-award winning play Fine Chisel. He is accompanied by a cast of experienced and talented actors and the performance features an original musical score.

The musical composition featured, allows us to experience the human voice in an a new and innovative way.

Similar to many of these events, audiences gather at a focal meeting point, in this case the castle’s pop-up Christmas bar, before being led away on a top secret tour, of the passages and corridors of the castle, normally not open to the public. The show ends with a merry feast in the great hall, where you can relax and discuss your take on the fabulous night.
